Shawn Maxam

Shawn Maxam is the assistant director for diversity and inclusion in the Office of the Provost. He manages strategic initiatives focused on institutional diversity and equity goals. This includes efforts to enhance access, diversity, inclusion and belonging within academic departments, and ongoing efforts to diversify campus art and iconography and enliven public spaces.

Shawn previously served as the prevention coordinator for men’s initiatives in Princeton’s Health Services. As a first-generation college graduate and the son of Jamaican immigrants, he deeply understands the importance of redefining and recognizing success and professional achievement. Shawn is originally from Brooklyn, New York, and currently resides in Lawrence Township, New Jersey, with his wife, Angela.
