Janella T. Hinds ’93

Janella Hinds

Janella T. Hinds brings a wealth of experience in both labor and education to her work as vice president for academic high schools for the United Federation of Teachers. A teacher of social studies, Janella is a staff member at the High School for Public Service in central Brooklyn, New York. She began her teaching career 23 years ago in central Brooklyn and currently teaches global studies to her students.

Janella also serves as secretary-treasurer of the New York City Central Labor Council, where she is responsible for fiduciary oversight of the federation that represents 1.3 million workers in over 400 public and private-sector labor unions.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology with a concentration in African American studies from Princeton and her master’s in social studies education from New York University.
